Welcome to The Salty Vegan Pantry – a list of the plant-based staples you would come across if you were to somehow stumble into my kitchen! These are the main ingredients I have come to rely upon most over the past several years and so having some (or all) of these in your cupboards at home should enable you to whip up some pretty good meals and sweet treats – and try your hand at my recipes of course!

I’ve categorised the ingredients for convenience and have also listed (at the bottom) the likes of my utensils and appliances etc. (If you’re not familiar with any of the ingredients and want to know a bit more about them then feel free to drop me a messege!)

• Vegan protein powder (one of these, or a combination of; hemp, pea, rice, soya – I currently use and would recommend Pulsin’s organic pea protein)
• Yeast Flakes (I use Marigold’s Engevita)

 

Butters, Creams, Pastes & Spreads


• Margarine (I use Vitalite or Pure)
• Almond, Cashew & Peanut Butter (I use Meridian’s or Whole Earth’s usually)

• Coconut Cream (usually in a small can or tetrapak)
• Full Fat Coconut Milk (the canned stuff)

• Tahini
• Tomato Puree

 

Oils


• Coconut Oil
• Olive Oil
• Rapeseed Oil or Sunflower Oil
• Sesame Oil

 

Milks


• Almond
• Coconut
• Soya

 

Baking (specific)


• Baking Powder
• Bicarbonate of Soda
• Egg Replacer powder (I use Orgran ‘No Egg’ Egg Replacer)
• Quick Yeast  (I use and recommend Doves Farm Quick Yeast)

• Plain White Flour
• Self-Raising Flour
• Strong Wholemeal Bread Flour
• Cornflour

• Caster/Granulated Sugar (white)
• Demera Sugar (brown)
• Icing Sugar

• Cacao Nibs
• Cacao Powder
• Dark Chocolate (70%+) (I usually try to keep around 5x 100g bars in the cupboard)

• Apple Cider Vinegar
• White Wine Vinegar

• Vanilla Essence/Extract

• Agave Syrup
• Maple Syrup

• Dates
• Dessicated Coconut

• Set of measuring spoons (1 tbsp, 1 tsp, 1/2 tsp, 1/4 tsp, 1/8 tsp)
• Set of measuring cups (1 cup, 1/2 cup, 1/3 cup, 1/4 cup)

• Loaf tins (x2)
• 9″ Spring-form tins (x2)
• Rectangular baking tray
• Square baking tray
• 12 cup muffin tin
• Cooling rack
